Race and crime correlation between crime and poverty does not exempt other races that have used statistics to enhance their populace. No one knows the actual number of false omissions or errors regarding crime and race that the US Census Bureau failed to report due to no one overseeing them (NBC News).
There are so many stereotypes of race, for instance, many Hispanics report being white according to a Pew Study and the US Census Bureau:
“Pew Research Center survey replicated the Census Bureau’s format, asking about race separately from Hispanic ethnicity. Asked about their race in this way, more than half of Hispanics in the survey identified their race as White (58%),“ (US Census Bureau Population Undercount for Minorities).
Reflection on Statistics
These statistics leads me to believe that the US Census Bureau needs improvement in its reporting practices. The US Census Bureau creates a negative perception of race and crime; race and gender; and many others. Race is more than a social construct it is a way to divide people into social classes maintaining the status quo. One must consider the birth of new racism called hidden racism which is the ability to remain racist while maintaining any position of power in the executive, judicial and legislative branches of government, and within other organizations. Treating people separate and unequal; racially segregated; through policy changes, influencing laws, academic institutions of some teachers, including systemic employment in power positions while people are unaware of them maintaining their racism (Deanna Watson, Ph.D. 2024) There is no exact definition for hidden racism besides the one I’ve collectively generated throughout the research and direct experience.
Essentially, if statistics keep giving false information regarding race and crime other alternatives should be implemented to allow other organizations to obtain government funding to collect statistical data instead. According to the US Census Bureau and NBC News “The 2020 census undercounted Black, Latino, and Indigenous populations while over-counting white and Asian people, according to estimates from a report by the U.S. Census Bureau” (US Census Bureau Population Undercount for Minorities). These facts are evidence that the motives of the US Census are distorted and there seems to be a disconnect in their ability to report accurate information. One should consider the motives of reporting inaccurate statistics for White, Black, and Hispanic races as this have been occurring consistently.
Recently, “Yahoo! News” reports that Ketanji Brown Jackson’s nomination to the Supreme Court, Lindsey Graham previously allegedly supported her, however, his remarks during the confirmation hearing were:
“I will vote no….Judge Jackson will not be deterred by the plain meaning of the law when it comes to liberal causes….Radical left… .her record lack steady… .of what the law requires, or common sense would dictate” (Lindsey Graham Votes No to Black Supreme Court Justice Woman). (Click Here to Watch Lindsey Graham in Action)
After watching the confirmation hearing it was more evident that Lindsey Graham did not want a Black Woman as the Supreme Court Justice because she is more than qualified to maintain ‘common sense as he suggested she lacked. The Age Discrimination Act of 1975 which is enforced by EEOC prohibits an employer from treating applicants and employees who are forty or older differently, or less favorably, because of age (EEOC Supports Age Discrimination Act of 1975 ).
Impact of Medication in Power Positions
Prescription medication can influence by impacting a person’s ability to maintain clear and sound judgment regardless of age. There should be an addendum to the Act which disallows government officials to stay in their position of power if prescription medication alters them in any way. This can be obtained by their primary care physician on an annual basis. Similarly, many employers require their employees to take a pre-employment assessment which should be required for government officials. An assessment entails them being asked questions like: ‘all ethnicities should be integrated into society; ‘homeless people should be required to work; and a few others. These assessments allow for transparency to gain a better understanding of the behaviors through assessments for prospective government officials.
Let’s examine the United States Supreme Court ages, which are 4 Judges born in the 1930s (92 and older); 4 judges born in the 1950s or before (age 72 and older); 3 judges born in the 1960s (age 62 and older), and 2 judges born in the early 1970s (age 52 and older) (US Supreme Court Justices).
According to the Food and Drug Administration:
“… .New symptoms or mood changes may not be a result of getting older but could be from the medicine you’re taking or another factor, such as a change in diet or routine”
….Such as a lifestyle or dietary change, may be suggested by your health care professional” (FDA on Side Effects of Medications)
Most importantly, if the Food and Drug Administration state that medication has side effects and can impact an individual’s lifestyle there should be more emphasis placed on that fact alone.
Prescription medication can influence members of the executive, judicial, and legislative branches of the government in their ability to maintain a clear and sound mind to decisions that impact millions of Americans.
Lindsey Graham is not saying anything about the people in the current Supreme Court Justice and how their age accompanied by prescription medication may be impacting their ability to maintain a clear and sound mind. He has not done anything to prevent them from impacting millions of lives when 4 people are evident that need to be retired over the age of ninety years old.
An Apartheid Dissipated Education Needs Restructuring
In addition, academic institutions should be required to change their literature of teaching in schools at least for every generation which is around every 25 years. Fundamentally, history is currently taking place with students that are not being discussed in the classroom history that includes the recent George Floyd death and so many others, current racial injustices, student debt, wage inequality, healthcare, housing, voting rights, reproductive rights, black American book banning in schools on black history (Black Book Banning in Schools), LGBTQ+ community, climate justice, current racism, and a few others. History is changing right in front of us while education is teaching ideologies from the 1940s through the 1980s. Change needs to occur soon. America has been in a dark place for far too long, God is needed.
