From the early 1870s onward, white supremacy gradually reasserted its hold on the South as support for Reconstruction waned; by the end of 1876, the entire South was under Democratic control once again (The History Channel). Presidential candidates’ stances on urban issues include myriad lists of reasons they avoid stimulating those that are marginalized out of poverty. Racial violence on the streets of New Jersey, with twenty-six dead in 6 days. Sparking more racial violence with riots in Detroit Michigan being more immense than in New Jersey. Five days into the Detroit riots there were 43 people dead, and hundreds wounded. This triggered racial violence in over one hundred twenty cities with over 70 major riots. This made me think about how frustrated blacks were during this time to even consider risking their lives to fight for equality with acts of rioting, looting, and the igniting of fires. From my perspective, it seemed as if blacks wanted to wage war on the United States at this time (Bill Moyers Journal: Race and Politics in American Cities).
Although I do not agree with the acts of rioting, looting, and the igniting of fires, it somewhat seems like they had no other option but to act in giving violence with violence as peaceful protests seemed ineffective. Essentially, they just wanted equality. Specifically, they could be killed for being peaceful and killed for fighting back. It was a matter of which way they wanted to be killed, during acts of peace or acts of violence. Fred Harris confirmed that it was so segregated in some areas that there were no ‘white’ people in sight such as Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Low family income; high unemployment, including, poor transportation.
With those types of adversities(problems), it is no wonder whites did not want to live amongst the blacks. Not all whites were racist during that time, only “racist whites”, are who I am referring to, which were people that would have to live in fear while sleeping in their homes knowing how sinister blacks were treated impacted their consciousness (guilt) at night. The consciousness (guilt) of racist whites knowing the mistreatment; inequality; and suffering blacks endured made their minds uneasy. They simply feared the reprisal of blacks. In my opinion, whites seemed to be so angry about living in the same neighborhoods as blacks because they were in fear of retaliation against them for their racist behavior towards them.
The reactions of blacks were spiraling out of control, yet they would do anything to fight for equality during that time. Racial violence continued, in my opinion, due to the internal fears that racist whites had for blacks. I am not sure if any racist white person has ever admitted or shown accountability as to the main reasons why they rejected living around blacks during that time. Indeed, this may be one of many precise speculations that I have regarding the continued segregation of blacks.
The rebellion against blacks continued to spread. The pain and alienation of blacks were being ignored and they turned violent. One commentator mentioned ‘deodorizing’ America which was quite interesting to me. Deodorizing America and forgetting about race with the spread of inequality. In my opinion, what blacks experienced and endured during those times will never happen again.
As President Johnson wanted to know: “What happened; Why did it happen, and What can be done to prevent it from happening again.” What happened was blacks were frustrated by inequality; they chose not to act peacefully anymore and the only thing that was done about it was the spread of more segregation. Most importantly, nothing prevented the riots from spreading like that besides making sure that “racist whites” were put in government positions of power to control by keeping minorities in poverty through housing and welfare supplements. Those racist whites did not disappear they did not go anywhere, besides hiding behind their careers in systemic positions of power to maintain their hidden racism while supporting acts of “white privilege” in society.
In addition, they gave blacks low-income housing, and income supplements (welfare) to keep them with a poverty mentality thus allowing the growth of white privilege to be maintained in society, and the decline of the black community by giving them a “little dot of community” through housing projects, welfare systems that continue to keep them in poverty. There is nothing wrong with getting help when you need a boost in life, but for how long? These subsidies do not create or intend to help people out of poverty, they intend to keep them there. People get low-income housing given to them in a project way faster than anything I have ever seen. Just think about the cost per year they are paying to house a person. Those people could be owning their own homes with a low down payment, helping them build their credit. Yes, they have programs that can help you obtain a house, but how long does that take, forever? Why would they give a person a low-income house but not a house to own on their own? Essentially, paying thousands of dollars for a person to rent, instead, of buying, why?
Most importantly, the Republican party was originally founded in the mid-1800s to oppose immigration and the spread of slavery (The History Channel). For this reason, it is imperative to know the stance/position that your political leaders are taking in the policy. Sample ballots for voting are given online, but nobody knows that they exist before voting.
Political Parties, Presidential Candidates who changed their party. What do you think motivated them to change their political party?
Read the entire chapter of the Holy Bible Mark Chapter 4, here is Mark 4:12 ‘they may be ever seeing but never perceiving, and ever hearing but never understanding; otherwise they might turn and be forgiven!”. Can you hear the voice of God when he is speaking to you? Is it easy or hard to hear and understand the voice of God?
Everyone should have at least 5 friends that can call their local government.

I want you all to know that I am a conservative libertarian, therefore, when voting, I will choose republican and democrat at the polling place depending on their stance on certain issues. God gives us a choice to follow him, which is voluntary, not involuntary. One day each person will have to give an account of their choices to God. We should embrace laws that support a free market. Just a word of advice – let’s not let political candidates talk about their opponent, we want to hear what they CAN DO in office, not what their opponent does wrong.
